TERI CHANDANII am a Southern California based artist. I have been customizing model horses since 1988. My current artistic endeavors include an original sculpture and several customized pieces, painted in oils, for the model horse hobby.
About This Website:
This website contains WHS news, a seasonal update showcasing horses in progress, shared ramblings on what's going on outside of the studio, such as hobby happenings, travel, and whatever serendipity life may bring my way! You will also find links to sales pieces and to my Instagram and Facebook accounts here, as well as my email contact, should you want to get a hold of me :) |
In each piece I create, I am always striving to celebrate the spirit that is "Equus".
This means not only working to attain the highest level of accurate detail into my sculpture, but to "breathe life" into each and every one, giving it a spirit of its own. It means constantly growing, studying/testing new techniques, studying countless images of real and artistically represented horses, and experimenting with new materials while perfecting my skills with the old. I work in airbrushed acrylics, pastels, oils, epoxie putty, and use a multitude of tools to achieve the highest level of detail that I can. I love adding fleshy wrinkles, veins, tiny hair-textured braids, and flowing manes and tails! I love highlighting and shading the tiny wrinkles and bumps on a sculpture's muzzle when I'm painting, or adding texture, hair-by-hair. This is how quality art is created- it takes time, experience, and passion. A Little About Me: I have "grown up" in this hobby (since 1988) and I have spent many years truly adoring the work of those who came before me. I have customized and shown model horses since the 90's, off an on, and my mid-2000's work won NAN's & championships regularly, but life kept getting in the way of my being able to participate in the hobby consistently. I watched the hobby grow and change from the sidelines for years, and I am now finally at a place in my life that I am able to offer my own "voice" into the unique, beautiful chorus that is our hobby. I could not be more excited! I hope you love your model as much as I have loved creating it, and as much as I have adored the work of the model horse masters that came before me.
